3 What is DaaS? DaaS (Desktop as a Service) is essentially desktop virtualization in the model of SaaS/Software as a Service. Desktop virtualization is the technology of separating the desktop environment from the physical client device and is hosted on a centralized or remote server, as a virtual machine. DaaS (desktop as a service) utilizes this technology. Evolve IP delivers this in a SaaS (software as a service) model while handling the management of infrastructure so the IT dept/admin doesn’t have to

4 What is the difference between DaaS and Traditional VDI? Essentially it’s VDI, but as a cloud application or ‘as a service’. DaaS has grown to be one of the top methods for deploying virtual desktops. In a VDI environment, customers are equipped with thin clients to access their virtual desktops hosted on a central service. This place more demands on their on-premise data centers and IT admins. DaaS transfers the job of managing and hosting virtual desktops to the cloud; eliminating the work AND expense needed to manage the back end infrastructure.

5 What are the Benefits of DaaS? Economics –CapEx to OpEx: shifts capital expenditures to a predictable monthly recurring revenue. BYOD – Productivity is increased because users can gain access to their desktop from any location. iPad, iPhone, Chromebooks...anything that can get on WiFi and you have your complete desktop exactly how you left it. Stability – Because Evolve IP offers DaaS we can deliver it from robust technology centers over multiple carriers. This ensures services are available regardless of the conditions at the customer location. Scalability – Meet new requirements by adding additional resources to the ‘’virtual’’ desktop rather than upgrading your equipment. Performance – immediately address PC issues by restarting, or re- imaging the desktop –from ANY location. This saves IT time. Security – External/Remote users can have secure access to company apps and data. Enforcing end-to-end security, consistently, across all users, regardless of device.

7 Who is a fit for DaaS? Target Candidates/ Use Cases Wants their desktop environment to be an operational expense. Greater flexibility, mobility and general ease-of-experience for admins and end-users. Consistent and predictable security across multiple devices. Organizations that have already been using a form of desktop virtualization – like VDI or people that are currently using RDP are a fit Use Cases 25 – 500 Employees with high bandwidth. “Always-on” industries. Multi location customers Industry Examples: Law firms, Banks/Credit Unions, construction companies and Professional Services Companies.

9 Organizations that may need additional research: Organizations with limited bandwidth because it can affect latency when using a remotely hosted desktop. Users whose job functions require higher than average desktop utilization may have a better user experience working from a physically hosted virtual desktop. For example, an architect heavily using CAD or a someone using video editing tools.

10 Standard Features Windows Desktop in the Cloud Can be accessed by HTML5 Blast Client or PCOIP Delivery protocol which provides: access to local USB peripherals, Rich Media Content and a seamless desktop user experience. Security Provides external users with secure access to company apps and data. BYOD Access from Windows and Mac computers, various thin clients, iOS (iPads and iPhones), Chromebooks and Android devices. Web Based Management Portal Makes self-service management easy and accessible via any browser.

12 Best Practices One DaaS Seat is required for each named user. RMM is required per seat, Evolve IP essentials or professional, or customer can provide their own RMM. There is a 25 user minimum for any DaaS order. Each customer requires one DaaS Infrastructure Bundle to act as the Active Directory and Tenant Portal Server. Client VPN services are not required for secure, remote access to Evolved Desktop, but are recommended for administrator access to AD server.
