2 First, the hen lays the egg.

3 Next, the embryo grows inside the egg.

4 The chick pecks out of the egg shell after 21 days.

5 The chick is wet when it comes out of the egg. Then it dries out.

6 The chick grows up to be a hen or a rooster.

7 The life cycle of a chicken starts all over again!
