2 Mentoring Objective To improve the attendance, academic performance, and self-esteem of at risk 9 th grade students.

13 Needs Assessment Improve attendance (Aligned with Appendix D Goal 1 for 9 th Grade Team) –Students will have no more than 3 unexcused absences per quarter –Students will have no more than 2 unexcused tardies per quarter Improve academic performance (Aligned with Appendix D Goals 2 and 3 for 9 th Grade Team) –Maintain a B-C Grade Point Average –Improve Average Homework Grade –Improve Average Test/ Quiz Grade

14 Alignment with SIP School Goal 1 Each child, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, disability or socio-economic status, will meet the rigorous performance standards that have been established. All diploma-bound students will perform on or above grade level in all measured content areas.

15 Alignment with 9 th Grade Team Appendix D Goals 1. Reduce overall 9th Grade retention. 2. Decrease the overall number of 9th graders who are eligible for denial of credit due to lack of attendance 3. Increase the overall academic performance and attendance of 9th grade FARMS students

16 Mentee Decision Please select two possible mentees for next meeting. –You are only being asked to mentee one student. –You should consider two for next meeting in case another teacher selects your first choice. You may want to work with another student later in the year. –No mentee gets left unwanted if the mentoring relationship doesn’t work out. Please be prepared to discuss your mentee choices on 10/21.
