2 Accent On-line catalog  On-line catalog searches for subjects. authors, and titles.  Can be searched in the media center, classrooms, homes, or any place with Internet access.  More than a few people can be searching at the same time.  Know immediately if the material is in the media center or checked out.

6 Discus Training  South Carolina’s Virtual Library of free reliable databases-no login name or password is needed at school, but they are required when accessed from home.

7 Some of the databases are:  Biography resource center-over 300,000 biographies and one million people from Who’s Who sources.  InfoTrac- over 100 custom newspapers from around the world  Grolier-encyclopedias, almanacs, atlases, dictionaries  Health & Wellness resource center  Kids InfoBits-articles, pictures, and reference information on all subjects.  The State (Newsbank)-December 1987-present.  Sirs Discoverer-articles for students grades 1-9

9 PinPoint  A way of searching your individual library or libraries and the Internet at the same time.  It has reliable, accurate information.  Library materials and Internet sites are listed together.

14 For the grant, media specialists:  Made a curriculum map of the school in science and social studies.  With new materials, we matched the collection with what is being taught. Removed outdated materials.  Doing collaborative planning with teachers.  Making community and teachers aware of the services that are available.  Placing book commercials done by students in daycare centers  Posting work done with teachers and media specialists on webpage.
