2 2 High Level Goals Long term goals (3-5 years) –Improve the academic quality of the science and technology projects within the classroom in K12 –Promote a mentor system with the support of researchers, professionals and university students to assist students in the preparation of their projects. –Strengthen capacities of technical teams in the 24 provinces Short term goals (1-2 years) –Establish courses to increase the ability of teachers in developing experimental methods. –Promote interaction between teachers, students and researchers. –Promote the use of scientific and technology experimentation in the schools. –Provide incentives for children to continue studies of sciences and mathematics –Improve scientific review and judging

3 3 Measuring Results Student participation in National Fairs to increase 50% in next three years Gradual insertion of science fair projects in curricular activities – 2400 schools involved in 2009 with participation of 500 scientists. Implement new National Science Fair Rules to ensure successful participation of students in international fairs Increase by 20% number of teachers and pre-service trained in implementing scientific projects Increase enrollment in scientific careers by 15% in next two years
