2 A Brief History 1998 – Creation of Venturing, BSA 5 Bronze, Gold, Silver, Ranger, and Quartermaster Awards 2003 – Quest Award added 2005 – TRUST Award added

3 The TRUST Award is of a similar level of dedication and expertise as the other expert-level awards (Ranger, Quartermaster, and Quest). The Religious Life Bronze Award has been updated to reflect the broader focus on both Religion and Community. It has been renamed the Religious and Community Life Bronze Award.

4 As with all parts of the Venturing Advancement Program, the TRUST Award is available to all participants in Venturing. The TRUST Award requirements, medal, and the resulting handbook, were originally designed by the youth in the program.

5 T T - Tending Your Beliefs So, what does this “TRUST” word mean? Trust: Firm reliance on the integrity, ability, or character of a person or thing. (The American Heritage College Dictionary, 4th edition, 2002) R R - Respecting The Beliefs of Others U U - Understanding Other Cultures S S - Serving Your Community T T - Transforming Our Society

6 Each of the five sections include requirements that all Venturers must complete, and electives that Venturers choose to complete Each section is related to one part of the Venturing Code

7 Tending Your Beliefs Earn the Venturing R&CL Bronze Earn a Religious Award (age appropriate) Discuss your religious path with your religious leader Discuss the Venturing Oath and Code

8 Respecting the Beliefs of Others Learn about Religious Freedom Explore the variety of religious worship in your community Learn about inter-religious efforts within your community In-depth learning about a religion other than your own

9 Understanding Other Cultures Identify and explore your own culture Attend a variety of cultural events Explore immigration/emigration in your community Learn about cultural conflict and cultural tolerance in the world

10 Serving Your Community Plan and lead a community service project Participate in discussions of community government Volunteer or membership in community service and safety organizations

11 Transforming Our Society Counseling skills training and exploration of community problems Ethical decision making practice Observe and take part in community conflict resolution Understand Scouting’s goal in peace
