1. Year 7 I am sorry I cannot be there for your lesson yet again; and that the trip will not happen tomorrow because you would have found it boring (we hope to do it better next term). Hopefully you have finished your work about Leyton in the time of the Great Houses; and you have drawn pictures of what you think Leyton was like 300 years ago…….. If you haven’t finished any of your past work, please do so now. If you have finished I’d like you to do a bit of time travel. Please go to the next slide.

2. Time travel…….write a story Imagine you are suddenly transported in time back nearly 300 years to the year 1720 when the land this school is on was part of the Grange, the estate of David Gansel. That’s the start of your story, one that has adventure and surprises but stays true to historical fact in the time when the rich of Leyton lived in grand houses and the poor were servants, farm labourers or in the workhouse. To remind you, here (next slide) is what this part of Leyton was like in 1720.
