14 Characterizations of Riddles  1. Alliteration- the repetition of beginning sounds  -Sally sold sea shells down by the sea shore

15  2. Kenning- a specialized metaphor made of compound words  - ex. Gas guzzler

16  i. usually formed with two compound nouns  -sky- candle  -battle-dew 

17  ii. could be a possessive  Ocean’s face  iii. or phrases  hot with ale
