5 5 Meeting objectives General objective : advise UNCTAD on the implementation of innovative responses to the building and sharing of knowledge in the field of trade and development. Within this framework, specific objectives : Examine the innovative responses being adopted by training institutions and research centres to build and share knowledge in the field of international trade and development, and how they are supported by international organisations;Examine the innovative responses being adopted by training institutions and research centres to build and share knowledge in the field of international trade and development, and how they are supported by international organisations; Identify how successful these approaches have been in responding to the needs and challenges faced by developing countries and countries in transition in the field of knowledge building/sharing;Identify how successful these approaches have been in responding to the needs and challenges faced by developing countries and countries in transition in the field of knowledge building/sharing; Review the activities undertaken by UNCTAD for building and sharing knowledge in developing countries and countries in transition;Review the activities undertaken by UNCTAD for building and sharing knowledge in developing countries and countries in transition; Identify best practices and how it could be further implemented by UNCTADIdentify best practices and how it could be further implemented by UNCTAD

6 6 NTTCB initiatives and programmes TrainForTrade: a training and capacity building programme targeting international trade operators in the public and private sectors. The Virtual Institute: a capacity building initiative which seeks to cooperate with academic institutions so as to support teaching and research on trade, investment and development issues The course on “Key issues of the international economic agenda”: highlights the links between trade, investment and development, particularly in the specific framework of multilateral negotiations.
