 Found in rainforests of Southeastern Madagascar.  Restricted to primary rainforests.  Elevations of up to 600-1,400m.

 Feeds on new shoots, leaf bases and creepers of endemic giant bamboo.  Shares habitat with other lemurs.  Females give birth to one, occasionally 2, around November- December.  Head and body length- 28-45 cm.

 Social animal- 2-6 individuals in the group.  Most active at dawn and dusk.  Bamboo has a high level of cyanide and the lemurs has evolved to be resistant against the cyanide.

 The lemur is being threatened by agriculture and timber extraction.  Hunted for food.  Pet trade.

 Around 1,000 lemurs estimated to be left.  Maybe a little more that are unaccounted for.

 Critically endangered.  There is a conservation but agriculture is encroaching the wildlife parks.  Kept in wildlife parks but are still being hunted.

1. True/false: Golden Bamboo Lemur does not share its own habitat? 2. True/False: Females gives birth to two or more young? 3. How many lemurs are in a group? 4. What elevations do they live at? 5. How many species are estimated to be left?
