6 ACT English – Step by Step Read the entire passage at a brisk but comfortable reading speed. When you are down, write down the number that appears on the screen. THIS IS IMPORTANT!

18 Compute your reading rate. Take the number of words read = 305 Then, divide 305 by how many minutes you read (did you write down your number?) Example = 305 1.75 = @174 words per minute.

19 Argument / Main Idea / Tone Re-read the passage, one paragraph at a time ONLY. Answer the questions (per paragraph) on the appropriate lines.

20 Reading Underlined portion Turn the sheet over. DO NOT, for any reason, TURN THE SHEET BACK TO THE FRONT SIDE. Annotate any underlined portion that you think looks wrong, weird, or out-of-place.
