2. History Team #3-4/YMS2 Introduction Lewis and Clark were part of an expedition that changed the course of the United States forever. On this expedition, they mapped the landscape, observed the plants and animals there, and reached the Pacific Ocean. This expedition’s main objective was to find a Northwest Passage. When they found there was no such passageway, they continued to move towards the Pacific Ocean by land, recording observations as they progressed westward. When they returned, they presented their findings to President Jefferson for further study.
