3 Question: What did the scarecrow want more than anything? Eliminate the question word and use the rest of the words to re-state the question. Get rid of words like: What, Where, Why, and How. The scarecrow wanted ….

4 Answer the question by adding specific details. The scarecrow wanted to be friends with the animals and birds he could see from his field.

5 Cite text evidence (quote)from the text with a stem. In this text it states…In paragraph ___, it states On page __ in the article it says, “____________” In the text when…In the passage….
