2 All in this category have problematic self-control of emotions and behaviors.  Conduct Disorder  Oppositional Defiant Disorder  Intermittent Explosive Disorder  Pyromania  Kleptomania  Other specified or unspecified disruptive, impulse control, and conduct disorders  Antisocial Personality Disorder (in this section and described in the PD section) © 2014 S. 3 Symptoms grouped in four categories: ◦ aggression to people and animals ◦ destruction of property ◦ deceitfulness or theft ◦ serious violations of rules Two items were added to increase applicability to females:  Staying out at night  Intimidating others © 2014 S. Dziegielewski

4 Subtypes based on age of onset  Childhood onset and adolescent onset.  Onset before age 10 has a poor prognosis.  When 18 used to be diagnosed antisocial but now can remain into early 20s because not all conduct disorders become antisocials © 2014 S. Dziegielewski

5  No major changes to the main criteria.  Work groups added callous/unemotional specifier for conduct disorder.  Concern noted that it can provide a potential stigma and limited clinical utility. © 2014 S. Dziegielewski

6  Based on research, deleted the criterion "uses obscene language."  Also increased clarification on clearly establishing the deviation from what could be considered normal.  DSM-IV-TR clarifies that many children with Oppositional Disorder do not develop conduct disorder. © 2014 S. 7  Persistent pattern of angry, irritable mood lasting at least 6 months.  Must have four symptoms from the following three categories:  Angry Irritable Mood  Argumentative/Defiant Behavior  Vindictiveness ** Specific Criteria for Severity (absent, subthreshold, mild, moderate, severe) EX: Severe: shows at least four symptoms in three or more different settings. © 2014 S.
