1 WELCOME TO OUR 4 th GRADE OPEN HOUSE 2015 Our Room/Our Day Specials Daily Chores Snacks and Lunch Subjects Before you Leave

2 August Meet and Greet  Students toured the room, met new and old friends, and dropped off  their school supplies

4 Our Morning Opener  Students use the Smartboard for attendance and to also learn the opening procedures for the day.

5 Signing the Pledge  Each morning we sign The Pledge of Allegiance and sing the National Anthem

6 Our Morning Specials  Every Monday we have Library with Mrs. Snyder, Wed. and Fri. PE with Mr. Howell and Art on Thursday.

7 Our Daily Chores Each week we work with a partner to help take care of our room.

8 Checking the Weather Each day our classroom Meteorologists check the weather report online and record the morning temperature. Classmates try to predict the actual equivalent Celsius or Fahrenheit temperatures.

17 Outdoor Morning Break Children bring in healthy snacks to enjoy while taking their morning break inside or outside

18 Outdoor Morning Break When not outside students can play board games or build with blocks. Just two of the many activities that students can play during their indoor morning break.

19 Writing Workshop Lucy Calkins Process writing Cursive Practice Keywords Fry Words Quickword resource

20 Writing Workshop In the fall we learn cursive writing and writing procedures. We are also working on our first writing piece.

21 Computer Lab We visit the Computer Lab each week to learn new things in every subject, do research, practice our keyboarding skills and much more.

22 Lunchtime We visit with friends and enjoy our lunch break. Parents may come to have lunch with their child at a special table.

23 Math Workshop Common Core Math for Large and Small groups Problem Solving PCP’s (must complete at least 1 per month) Math Games Fast Facts

24 Math Workshop Students practice place value with math manipulatives.

25 Thematic Instruction In Science This fall we are learning about Healthy Living

26 Thematic Instruction In Social Studies This fall we are learning how to develop our map skills
