Workshop U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Rockville, Maryland Pacific Northwest National Laboratory November 15-17, 2005 Packager/Unpackager

2 IntroductionIntroduction The Packager utilities are simple tools designed to collect files associated with a FRAMES module, simulation, or system in order to conveniently transport them. There are three sets of Packagers/Unpackagers: Module Simulation System Presently a packaged file will not indicate which packager was used to create it and the corresponding Unpackager MUST be used to retrieve the files.

3 The Different Packagers Simulation Packager All datasets and dictionaries Module Packager All the datasets and dictionaries around a selected module System Packager All dictionaries, units, modules and settings No Executables/Libraries/Batch Files

4 Instructions on using the Simulation Packager To begin with, the simulation should be saved within the FramesV2 Simulations folder (Normally: C:\Program Files\FramesV2\Simulations\). With the selected simulation open, select the Simulation Packager from the Tools menu in FRAMES. (Note: When the Simulation Editor is open, the “Tools” function in FRAMES requires an icon in either the Global or Local Workspace to be selected. If you get an error message indicating that an icon must be selected, click on an icon in the CSM and try again.) FRAMES 2.0 Simulation Packager

5 After launching the Simulation Packager, a window will appear requesting a filename and location for the packaged file. The file should be saved in the FramesV2 Simulations folder (same location where the simulation files reside). The first part of the filename should be the same as the simulation, followed by.sim (to indicate which packager was used), and then followed by the.zip extension. FRAMES 2.0 Simulation Packager (continued) example.sim

6 FRAMES 2.0 Simulation Unpackager: To unpackage a file, open FRAMES 2.0 and close down any editor that may be open (i.e. Simulation Editor, Dictionary Editor). Go to tools, and then click on ‘SimulationUnpackager.’

7 Find the.zip file that you wish to unpackage, and select open. Note: The Simulation Unpackager will unpackage the.sim files to the same directory and folder structures as the one that it was packaged from and will NOT ask the user where they want the file to be extracted to. This why both simulations and their packaged files are kept in the “Simulations” folder. Once the file has been unpackaged, you can open the Simulation Editor, click ‘File’ then ‘Open.’ Browse to the “Simulations” folder and open the.sim file. FRAMES 2.0 Simulation Unpackager:

8 FRAMES 2.0 Simulation Packager/Unpackager Extra guidance for the packager/unpackager Since the simulation files will extract to the same location where they were originally located, it is considered a best practice to package files from the FramesV2\Simulations\ folder into a packaged (.zip) file in the same directory. Likewise, a packaged file should be placed into the FramesV2\Simulations\ folder before attempting to unpackage it. Also make sure that the.zip you are trying to unpackage is from the Simulation Packager, and not from any other FRAMES packager (i.e. Module or System Packager).
