4 Stress and Coping Chronic stress leads to hyperarousal of the sympathetic nervous system and elevated cortisol levels Cortisol: increased blood pressure and heart rate, increased blood sugar, infertility in women, weakened immune system, depression, premature death Coping is key for a long life
