Skin Cancer is an Epidemic  One in five Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime.  One American dies of melanoma almost every hour (every 62 minutes).  Melanoma is the most common form of cancer for young adults 25-29 years old.  Melanoma is increasing faster in females 15-29 years old than males in the same age group.

7.  To protect the public health, the FDA should:  Ban the use and sale of tanning devices in the US; or at a minimum, ▪ Reclassify tanning devices (to the strictest category) ▪ Restrict access to tanning beds by minors ▪ Require informed consent for all consumers ▪ Require posted warning statements ▪ Implement and enforce labeling recommendations from the TAN Act ▪ Enforce additional state regulations
