Agenda and Daily Notes #6 10/20/14 Agenda: 1.Finish Solar System 2.Answer Questions on the Back Science Starters: - We discussed the answers. Look at a model of the solar system and guess. Reflection: - You could discuss what it was like to see the planets laid out on the ground, scaled down from actual sizes in our SS. What took place in class: 1 st Period – Needed to finish planets. Will go out tomorrow. 2 nd – 7 th Periods – Grabbed planets, Solar System worksheets, tape measure and went outside. Planets were previously scaled down from actual sizes. Now they are scaled down from actual distances. 10/21/14 Agenda: 1.NONE Science Starters: - NONE Reflection: - NOT REQUIRED What took place in class: HANDOUT – ONLY IF YOU WANT AS A REFERENCE – This is a model of my process in order to derive a question, break it apart, and begin researching. Today we went over how to do research and where to begin if you do not have a question. It was established that if your experiment does not work and you have to start over with something new, your research paper should be broad enough that you can pull together a new project under the same topic. 10/22/14 Agenda: 1.Formation of the Solar System Notes 2.Science in the U.S. Science Starters: Meteorites & Solar System Reflection: - You could discuss Density & Gravity/Inertia. What took place in class: 1 st Period – laid out planets and finished the assignments. 2 nd – 7 th Periods – took notes on how the Solar System was born: Density & Gravity/Inertia http://highered.mcgraw- hill.com/sites/0073369365/student_view 0/chapter2/formation_of_the_solar_sys tem.html# http://highered.mcgraw- hill.com/sites/0073369365/student_view 0/chapter2/formation_of_the_solar_sys tem.html# Two rocks were held to understand how different elements can be of different densities. Then we brainstormed how this takes place in our solar system. Students had to look up the most dense planet and write in their notes. A self- siphoning chain demonstrated gravity and inertia which was then brainstormed and drawn on the board to show how this affects orbits. 2 nd, 3 rd, 5 th Periods – Started discussing Science in the U.S. My projector broke so I could not continue. 10/23/14 Agenda: 1.Silent Work Day 2.Extra Credit (5 for quiet, 3 for on task) Science Starters: - Grade yourself. Reflection: - This is justifying your grade. What took place in class: We discussed what happens if you fail. I also introduced the 27 books I checked out. Silent work options: 1.Redo or complete previous assignments 2.Work on Science Fair Research (tablets or books) 3.Work on something for another class 4.Begin Next Week’s assignment 10/24/14 Agenda: 1.No school

Science Starters 10/20/14 What are 2 main differences between the 1 st 4 inner planets and the last 4 outer planets?

Science Starters 10/21/14 NONE TODAY --- we are researching in the Math Lab.

, that strike our Earth can be used to date the, since scientists think that they formed at the same time. 10/22/14

Science Starters 10/23/14 Grade yourself and justify your answer, on the following items: 1.Classroom Behavior 2.Your effort on assignments 3.Your participation (not raising your hand but think of how you engage yourself in your learning)
