2 Food Quality Protection Act of 1966 The purpose of this act was to improve the national regulations of pesticides used in order to enhance public health and environmental protection The FPQPA of 1996 amended both FIFRA and the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA), and establishes a new safety standard for pesticide residues in food and emphasizes protecting the health of infants and children.

3 Provisions Under this act all pesticides must be tested and the EPA must be able to conclude that they are safe.
