3 Today’s Text: Philippians 3:12~16

4 Philippians 3 7 But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. (NASB)

5 Philippians 3 8 More than that, I count ALL things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ, (NASB)

6 Philippians 3 9 and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith, (NASB)

7 Philippians 3 10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death; (NASB)

8 Philippians 3 11 in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. (NASB)

9 Philippians 3 12 Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. (ESV)

10 Philippians 3 13 Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead,, (ESV)

11 Philippians 3 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. (ESV)

12 Philippians 3 15 Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you. 16 Only let us hold true to what we have attained.. (ESV)

13 I have not already obtained (vs.12)

14 Philippians 3 12 Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect … (NASB) 12 I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. (NLT)

15 Christian maturity humbly acknowledges the need for growth

25 Consider how he runs: 1)Forgetting … what lies behind 2)Straining forward… what lies ahead (reaching forward)

26 This is what Apostle Paul was about. He is about one thing. He is the one thing guy. The surpassing worth of knowing Jesus Christ my Lord!

28 How about us? What are you most passionate about? What would those who know you best say … that you are most passionate about? What is your one thing?

29 Provoked but not Condemned Convicted but not Condemned

32 How about us? What are you most passionate about? What would those who know you best say … that you are most passionate about? What is your one thing?

33 Often, we want effortless affections But affections do not come effortlessly.

34 Hold true (vs.16)

35 Philippians 3 16 Only let us hold true to what we have attained.. (ESV)

36 Christian maturity involves faithfully holding on to the gospel

37 Philippians 3 12 Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. (ESV)

38 Philippians 3 12 It's not that I have already reached this goal or have already become perfect. But I keep pursuing it, hoping somehow to embrace it just as I have been embraced by the Messiah Jesus. (ISV)
