What Are They Among So Many? John 6:5-13

Gideon & His 300 – Judges 7 Rahab – Joshua 2 & 6 Joshua & Caleb – Numbers 13 & 14 Paul – 2Timothy 4:16

and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank from the spiritual Rock that followed them, and the Rock was Christ. 1Corinthians 10:4

What Should We Be Among So Many Today?

Willing Servants

We want you to know, brothers, about the grace of God that has been given among the churches of Macedonia, for in a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part. For they gave according to their means, as I can testify, and beyond their means, of their own free will, begging us earnestly for the favor of taking part in the relief of the saints—and this, not as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and then by the will of God to us. 2Corinthians 8:1-5

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:1-2

Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, Romans 1:1 Jesus answered them, Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. John 8:34

Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness. Romans 6:16-18

Shining Lights

In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:16 For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness. 1Thessalonians 5:5

giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:12-14

for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light Ephesians 5:8 For so the Lord has commanded us, saying, I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth. Acts 13:47 The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. Romans 13:12

Sword Bearers

and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, Ephesians 6:17 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

Separated

With respect to this they are surprised when you do not join them in the same flood of debauchery, and they malign you; 1Peter 4:4 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works. Titus 2:14

Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work. 2Timothy 2:21

Possessors of The Gospel

Slaves are to be submissive to their own masters in everything; they are to be well-pleasing, not argumentative, not pilfering, but showing all good faith, so that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior. Titus 2:9-10

Possessors of Victory

For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 1John 5:4-5

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1Corinthians 15:57 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31

For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2Peter 1:5-11

For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins. Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to make your calling and election sure, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall. For in this way there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 2Peter 1:5-11
