3 Where do I begin? Usernames/Passwords for each system Keep email addresses appropriate Facebook and MySpace Profile Transcript Test Scores (AP, SAT I, SAT II, ACT) Must have originals sent Essay (Personal Statements) Who is proofreading (Mrs. Packer, Junior/Senior English Instructor) I would like a copy to read

4 How many do I apply to? Three to Five is average 1. High Interest- Stanford 2. Back Up-(local school) (Stan State) 3. Two of interest (Sac State, UC Merced) How do I know which to pick? Location (climate, distance from home) Size Lifestyle (sports, sorority, fraternity, intramural activities, leadership, international program). Major October Break-Great time to visit campuses

5 Understanding Deadline Options Early Decision (ED): If you're accepted by your first- choice college early, you must withdraw all other applications. (Dec/Jan letter) Early Action (EA): Under these plans, you may also apply early action to other colleges. Single-Choice Early Action (REA): Candidates may not apply early (either early action or early decision) to any other school. Regular Decision or Priority Registration: Normal deadline for all applicants. ***Do not miss deadlines!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

6 Eligibility Index- minimum score to be eligible to apply SAT Scores (2900) (GPA x 800) + SAT without writing ACT Scores (694) (GPA x 200) + (10 x ACT Composite) *score only qualifies you to apply Examples: 2.5 X 800 = 2000 + 900 = 2900 or 2.5 x 200 = 500 + (10 x 20) = 700

7 College Entrance Exams Scores for majority of universities must be completed in November. **few accept December scores and none accepted after December. If needed, order Scores from the following www.collegeboard.com for SAT I or SAT II www.collegeboard.com www.actstudent.org for ACT www.actstudent.org

9 California State University Website Tier 1 Selections Students living within the selected counties around a university. Acceptance based on classes and eligibility index. *can be notified at any time Tier 2 Admissions Students living outside boundaries; different eligibility index. For example; Sonoma is 3200 and Long Beach is 3750. Non-impacted CSU’s are Sacramento, Stanislaus, East Bay, Humbolt, Bakersfield, Maritime, Channel Islands, LA, San Bernardino, Monterey Bay, Dominquez Hills
