2  Born 27 August 1908 in Cootamundra, NSW  Died 25 February 2001  When he was about two-and-a-half years old, his parents moved to Bowral

3  Practised batting constantly as a child  He invented his own solo cricket game, using a cricket stump for a bat, and a golf ball as the ball  Hit his first century when 12 for Bowral Public School  Bradman made his first-class debut at the Adelaide Oval, aged 19

4  Played his first test match after only 10 first class games  Bradman completed the season with 1,690 runs giving him an average of 93.88  Against Queensland at the SCG Bradman set a world record for first class cricket by scoring 452 runs not out

5  Bradman went on the 1930 tour to England  England were the favourites to win the ashes series but Australia managed to win 2-1  Bradman managed to score 974 runs to give him an average of 139.14

6  Sir Donald Bradman contributed to Australia because he provided the people with entertainment and helped give Australia an identity
