2. HIS BIRTH AND PARENTS Hadrat Ibrahim (as) and Hazrat Hajrah were blessed with a baby boy by the name of Ismail.

3. THE MIRACLE OF ZUMZUM On one occasion, Hadrat Ibrahim(As) was instructed by Allah to leave his beloved wife and his eldest son(Ismail) in the desert. He obediently followed his directions and supplied them with water and dates. Soon the water ran out and Hadrat Ismail(As) began to cry for water, for he was just an infant. Hadrat Hajar was desperately looking for water. She started running between two hills in desperation. She stopped at the seventh time in between the two hills. Then by a miracle, Angel Gabriel came and struck the ground. Water started spurting out and so much was coming out that Hajar was yelling “Stop! Stop!” In Arabic, it is Zum Zum, henceforth the name. Soon, a city was built there.

4. THE SACIFICE On another occasion, Hadrat Ibrahim had a dream that he sacrificed Ismail on the mountaintop. When Ismail heard about this, he told Ibrahim that Allah is testing him and he should sacrifice him. He said that he was ready. He was only nine years old. He was frightened of his faith. He really wasn’t ready for this, but he accepted his fate. He was about to sacrifice Hadrat Ismail on the mountaintop, when Allah commanded him not to, and they sacrificed a goat instead. This lead to Eid-ul-Adiya.

5. THE REBUILDING OF THE KAABA The rebuilding of the Kaaba is a task that Hadrat Ibrahim and Hadrat Ismail fulfilled even after Hazrat Adam (as) had done so long ago.
