CONNECT Connecting and engaging people with God’s word and each other

Connect: Seeing the short term need  Some church leadership teams may be too busy to train and equip the next generation of leaders Sometimes churches struggle to find leaders who are willing and able to shepherd God’s flock Youth groups are sometimes run by leaders who have grown into the position due to their long time with the church without the necessary skills / training / coaching leaders are ill equipped to rightly handle the word of God Some leaders are overworked and burn out. Consequently, many leave the church and give up the faith

Connect: Seeing the long term need  There is a need for more Gospel centred, biblically solid, spiritually humble and mission minded leaders and pastors Some churches have spent years looking locally, nationally and internationally for a suitable pastor without success When pastors leave, many churches become dependent on guest speakers Connect seeks to partner with Melbourne churches to begin to address some of these needs

Connect: Vision Statement Leaders raised in every generation who are Gospel centred, biblically solid, spiritually humble, mission minded and who will grow the church and empower her for mission to reach Melbourne, Australia and the world

Connect: Mission Statement To glorify God by serving our Lord Jesus Christ in partnership with Melbourne Churches by providing organised events to help them equip and encourage their current leaders; find leaders for tomorrow; and sustain their leaders for life long ministry

Connect: Goal To see every Asian Church in Melbourne with an English-speaking pastoral team

Connect: Program & Timeline  Run first ‘Connect Training Conference’ in 2009 to teach and train Christians to better understand and teach the Bible by providing an intensive conference with outstanding guest speakers and trainers  Run first ‘Connect Challenge Conference’ in 2012 to challenge and encourage Christians to wisely and prayerfully consider Bible teaching ministry as their life’s work  Run first ‘Connect Day Conference’ in 2012 to provide ongoing training and support for leaders throughout the year

Partnership: what it means What Connect will do for churches  Pray for the churches and leaders  Provide focused conferences for leaders and potential leaders  Provide an opportunity for leaders to network, learn from each other, support and pray for each other and think through the process of considering ministry as a vocation What churches could do for Connect  Pray that Connect will faithfully and effectively support churches  Support and encourage leaders and potential leaders to attend the conference  Advertise Connect to other churches so that they can benefit from this ministry
