Why is dermatology important? According to the British Skin Foundation, at present there are about 8 million people in the United Kingdom with a serious skin condition. This includes both skin cancer and inflammatory skin disease. That is 1 person in every 8 people in the UK. In Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust catchment population of approximately 500,000 that is potentially 62,500 patients. It is a great challenge.
