Information about this painting Title: Christ Crucified With Toledo in the Background Artist: Domenikos Theotokopoulos, El Greco Date of composition: c. 1604-1614 Artistic Era: Spanish Renaissance

Why I chose this painting… I chose this painting because I am a firm believer of Christ. This painting reminds me of the day he got crucified for our sins to be washed free. Christ went through the pain of being nailed to the cross so that everyone would be free. This painting reminds me that he died for me and I should live my life for him. I also love to express my faith whenever I can and this painting is my favorite way to do so. In my house I have this painting along with 3 other religious paintings hanging up. This painting reminds me why I am living free and he is the whole reason why I am here today.

Information about this painting Title: Women With a Crow Artist: Pablo Picasso Date of composition: c. 1881 Artistic Era: unknown

Why I chose this painting… I chose this painting because it seemed interesting how a crow would let a human touch it. I just found it appealing to me because it gives a different perspective of crows because usually you see crows as mean animals that do nothing but give burdens to humans, but in this painting it shows that crows can be kind animals. I found this painting very creative in the sense that it Picasso chose to use a mean looking unattractive woman with a crow. Both are usually unpleasant to be around and they are shown being nice to each other.

Information about this painting Title: The Old Guitarist Artist: Pablo Picasso Composition Date: c. 1903 Artistic Era: The Blue Period

Why I chose this painting… I chose this painting because it gave me an image in my mind of homeless old men in the streets of cities. They are trying to live their dream of usually singing or playing an instrument. This painting reminded me of a man who lost his job and couldn’t fulfill his dream of playing the guitar. I always feel for the homeless because one time they were just like us. Some of them were lazy but mostly lost jobs and couldn’t get a new one. I just mainly liked this picture because it showed how much strength this man had to not give up his dream even though he was living on the streets.
