Approximately 4,600kilometres. Operates at 500kV, 330kV, 275kV, 220kV, 132kV, 110kV and 66kV 200+ generating units ranging from 18MW to 700MW Approximately 7.7million customers Maximum demand of approximately 30,000MW Annual energy of 160,000GWh worth $8 billion. Split into 6 interconnected regions with single price per region. Overview

Existing historical data system was: –Great for event analysis eg playback on single line diagrams –Time consuming and difficult to use for data analysis, especially for data older than 2 months that had to be retrieved from tape Existing trending system was: –OK for presentation –Clunky to set up –Not integrated with the historical system and limited in the scope of available data

9 Copyright © 2007 OSIsoft, Inc. Company Confidential. All rights reserved. 9 Why PI - continued $ Growing need for access to historical data for: –Control room operations –Power system event analysis and dispute resolution –Operations planning and forecasting –Power system performance analysis –Power system planning activities Alternate vendor historical system was: –Oracle based –High capital cost –Performance concerns –Offered little on the client side

10 Copyright © 2007 OSIsoft, Inc. Company Confidential. All rights reserved. 10 PI Purchased Purchased in 2001 as a historian and trending tool because: –Good clients for user interface, and nice integration with existing office tools –Good performance for storing and retrieving data  modest server requirements –Efficient data storage  modest storage requirements –Low (ish) capital cost and low risk entry with easy expansion (started with 10,000 tags, now 30,000 tags) –Good support arrangements eg. 24 hour telephone support –Extensive user base –Easy company to deal with
