8 Letter from Chief Osecola I am the great Chief Osceola. I was born in 1804 in Tallassee, Alabama. I am known as the spirit of the Seminoles. In the 1830’s I led a great revolt against the white man, in what history has dubbed the Second Seminole War. My people are known throughout the great state of Florida has the ones who fought off the American Government and kept of prized land. Currently, I am imprisoned after being tricked by General Jesup of the American Army. They told me it was to sign a truce between our people and theirs instead they cowardly arrested me and took me away from my people. I am now dreadfully sick rotting away here at Fort Multrie, in South Carolina, far away from my people and far away from my land. Even though they may of stolen my sole and my heart they will never conquer the will of the Seminole people we will remain UNCONQUERED!
