1 Cardiac Modeling of Steady-State Transients in the Ventricular Myocyte Raymond Tran University of Queensland July 3 2013 UCSD PRIME

2 Research Proposal To expand the Shannon et al cardiac model and its limitations by accounting for change in intracellular potassium concentration. Nimrod is a modeling system that conducts parametric sweep across multiple computing resources. Specifically, Nimrod will be integrated with the model to look for steady-state values of AP, [Ca] i, [Na] i, [K] i. Nimrod

3 Methods 1. Will first search for the steady-state transients by testing values of applied current and its duration in the cell. 2. Will also examine the parameters of the Na-K pump and its effect on AP and the change of intracellular Ca, Na, and K over time.

4 Progress of Experiment In the process of running first test experiment on Nimrod/G. Will conduct parametric sweep of the applied current in the model. Current objective is to run multiple experiments with different parameters to find steady-state transients.
