5  Assessment Options  Directors  Between classes, by appointment  Smart Music – not including Chromatic, Rhythm, Sight-Reading  Why is Smart Music a great tool for your student?  http://www.smartmusic.com/parents/ http://www.smartmusic.com/parents/  For accountability purposes students are required to submit a video recording if using Smart Music to submit their assessment(s).

6  Solo & Ensemble Festival is April 26 at Westview  Each student performs a Solo and is in an Ensemble.  Students are evaluated by “Judges”  Judges will give suggestions and work with the student as well as complete an evaluation.  Evaluations are used to determine students grade.

7  Solo & Ensemble Information – pg 14 & 15 Solo & Ensemble Information  Materials Needed  Appropriate Music  Original Music for judges of your Solo and your Ensemble  “Clean” Copies of your Solo, Ensemble and Piano Accompaniment  Piano Accompanist or Smart Music (unless music says Unaccompanied) AccompanistAccompanist  GOLD provides accompanist for all freshman (up to freshman level of music)

8  Solo & Ensemble Preparation  Check Off & Grading Sheet (for planning purposes) Check Off & Grading Sheet  Parents are expected to be in attendance

9  Marching PE Credit  Credit is given at the end of the Term (linked)  Based on participation at class rehearsals, sectionals, after school rehearsals, performances  Participation includes having all materials  All students begin with an “A”  Grade is reduced as students do not participate

10  Concert Band Credit  Credit is given at the end of the Term (linked)  Grade based on Assessments and Communication  Final Grading Scale has been adjusted (new)  Assessment Deadlines  Students should still strive to pass assessments  Assessments are able to be done until we are done performing the work.  Not available – Patriotic Parade Sequence, Alma Mater, Moves Like Jagger …
