3 Black Hawk was born in 1767. He is famous for leading his people,the Sauk tribe in a noble fight to keep their lands. He died on October 3,1838, at his lodge house on the Des Moines River.

4 There are more than 9 billion bushels of corn produced each year. There are used in many ways.

5 White – tailed deer were reported to be quite many when settlers arrived in Iowa in the early 1800’s. By 1880 deer were rarely seen in many areas of the state.
