2. Albert the Bull is the largest bull in the world. He has been located in Audubon since 1964. He is 30 feet tall and 33 feet long.

3. When Chief Black Hawk was very young he became a brave. Black Hawk was a war chief who led his Sauk tribe to war. Black Hawk went to prison for fighting for his land in Iowa. He would not give up without a fight.

4. It was found in 1869. The length of its body is 10 feet 4 1/2 inches. It weighed 2,990 pounds! It was found near Fort Dodge.

5. Des Moines is Iowa’s state capitol. It was founded in 1843. Des Moines’s population was 203,433 in 2010. It’s located in Polk County.

6. The Eastern Goldfinch is Iowa’s state bird. It has been the official state bird since1933. The Eastern Goldfinch often stays through winter.

7. Ninety-two percent of Iowa’s land is devoted to farming. Iowa leads the nation in the percentage of land for farming. About 6.4 percent of the U.S. agriculture exports come from Iowa.

8. Grenville Dodge was born on April 3, 1916. Grenville Dodge was a Union Army officer during Civil War. He also helped build the transcontinental railroad.

9. The Hawkeyes are the University of Iowa’s football team. Their first season was in 1889. The stadium is located in Iowa City, Iowa.

10. The Iowa 80 Truck stop is the world's largest truck stop. It is located off exit 284 in Walcott, Iowa. The site has 5,000 visitors daily. This place is four times larger than the average truck stop.

11. John Chambers was born on October 6, 1780. He was the second governor of the Iowa Territory. John ordered an investigation that would give all the Indians the money back that they were cheated into spending.

12. Kurt Warner was born in Burlington, Iowa on June 22, 1971. He went to the University of Northern Iowa[UNI]. Kurt was drafted to the St. Louis Rams in 1998. He last played in 2009 with the Arizona Cardinals. He announced his retirement on January 29, 2010.

13. Lt. Albert Lea was born on July 23, 1808. In October of 1834 he was ordered to join Lt. Stephen Kearney’s detachment of dragoons at Fort Des Moines.

14. The Maytag Company was a $4.7 billion home and commercial appliance corporation. It was located in Newton, Iowa from 1893 to 2006.

15. Neola is located in Pottawattamie County along Interstate 80. It is near the northern part of Pottawattamie County.

16. Oakland is located in Pottawattamie County. Its also located along the West Nishnabotna River. It used to be called Big Grove.

17. Pottawattamie County is located around the southwestern part of Iowa. Pottawattamie County is the second largest county in Iowa. It got its name from the Potawatomi Native American Tribe.

18. Quaker Oats was founded by Ferdinand Schumar in 1805. In 1877 Quaker Oats became the first trademark for cereal. The Quaker Oats company is located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Quaker Oats company has been running for over 133 years!

19. RAGBRAI is a bike ride from one side of Iowa to the other. RAGBRAI stands for The Annual Registers Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa. RAGBRAI is an annual Iowa tradition and happens every year on the last full week of July. It started in 1973. The average route is 427 miles and isn’t necessarily flat.

20. Stephen Kearney was born on August 30, 1794 and died on October 31, 1848. He was invited as a guest of William Clark to the Lewis and Clark expedition.

21. Treynor is located in Pottawattamie County. It first appeared east of Council Bluffs in the late 1800s.

22. Underwood is located in Pottawattamie County. It was established around 1863.

23. The Villisca Ax Murder House is located in Villisca, Iowa. The murders happened on June 10,1912. People say its one of the most haunted places in America! Tours are interrupted by unexplained voices and slamming doors. After the murders the house was put for sale, but no one would buy it because it was so haunted.

24. Waterloo is located in Black Hawk County. It was incorporated in 1868.

25. Xavier High School is located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. It was established in 1998. Their motto is Learning Today. Leading Tomorrow. Serving Always. Their mascot is the Saint Bernard.

26. Yetter is located in Calhoun County, Iowa. It is a VERY small town.

27. Zebulon Pike was born on January 5, 1779 and died on April 27, 1813. He explored the upper Mississippi River. He discovered 500-foot bluffs in Iowa.
