3 Painters Break Away Tradition Trying to get away from normal typical ways of painting artist made a shift drawing not only common object but instead, emotions and feelings that where deep inside them; such as Paul Klee and Wassily Kandinsky using bold colors and distorted or exaggerated shapes and forms.

4 Cubism 1907 This technique was inspired with traditional African art and was founded by popular painter Pablo Picasso from Spain and George Braque from France. This technique did not followed classic techniques but instead it transformed natural shapes into geometric forms which influenced by Kandinsky.

5 Dadaist 1916-1924 Dada movement was more like protest as an art movement the term of Dada, French for “hobbyhorse” was picked on random without as specific meaning but it fit in the movement spirit. Dadaist works were meant to be absurd, nonsensical, and meaningless.

6 Surrealism 1931 Surrealism followed Dadaist. This movement had Freud’s ideas and was trying to make a connection between the world of dreams with real life; since the terms Surreal means “beyond or above reality.” So what they did was trying the make their paintings talk and express the unconscious part of their minds.

7 Architects Move in New Direction Architects not wanting to accept traditional building styles start the search for completely new forms of constructing buildings. American Architect Frank Lloyd Wright pioneered these new style that consisted on constructing buildings in which designed reflected its function or use; this was known as functionalism.

8 Composers Try New Styles In both classical and popular music, composer drifted away all traditional styles in look for a new style. Australian composer are known as Arnold Schoenberg created his own 12-tone scale which notes were unrelated except as mathematical patterns.

9 Jazz New popular music style was known as Jazz which came out of United States. Develop by musicians who were mainly African-Americans in New Orleans and Chicago. This lively beat of Jazz seemed to capture the freedom of the age.

10 Movies Revolutionize Popular Entertainment Many countries through out the world started making films. However, in Los Angles, California, at the suburbs of Hollywood 90% of the movie were made. English-born Charlie Chaplin, king of silent screen became popular and in the 1920s when additional of sound transformed movies; 90 million Americans went movies every week.
