2 Well, I mean the RULE of Subtraction!Well, I mean the RULE of Subtraction! –To Subtract an integer… you add its opposite. –Change the problem to addition, and use SAK or DSL.

3 Examples Subtracting 5 - 2 = ? This is the same as what Addition Problem? 5 + (-2)

4 - 4 - 1 = ? This is the same as what addition problem? -4 + -1 Subtracting a positive moved us …… Left so subtracting a negative moves us …. RIGHT

5 3 – (-2)= ? ( if taking off negative we are adding on!!) change to 3 + 2

6 - 7 – (-2) -7 + 2 = Change All Subtraction problems to addition!!!

7 Try it Change to addition problems then solve 6 – 13 -5 – (-9) 7 – (-12) -8 – 4 -3 – (-2)

8 Assignment 3-5 Pg. 130-131 # 12- 40 eoe, 44,45,49-55, 60
