1. SLYNE ROTA KIDS WE WANT TO HELP OUR COMMUNITY!

2. STARTING OFF AT ROTA KIDS! We are a group of children who have recently set up a Rota Kids club. We are a group of Year 5s and Year 6s

3. WHO IS WHO? Today we are the Year 6s from the Slyne-with-Hest St Luke’s Rota Kids club who have come to hopefully get you inspired for your own club.

4. Three of these people have important parts in our club: Liam is our club’s President he takes takes charge in our club meetings. Emily is our club’s secretary which means she is in charge in with making flyers, posters and letters. Lucy is our treasurer meaning that she has to look after all the money that the club raises.

5. Carnforth Rotary Club and especially Mr Chick helped us to set the club up and provided us with some funds for our first project and lots of help and ideas. He comes to most of our meetings. We held a special whole school assembly for the club to be officially launched. Here are some photos from the day…

8. The Rotary club from Carnforth introduced us to the special charity called Mary’s meals. We would like to show you a short video explaining what this charity is all about.

9. Mary’s Meals began in 2002 as a one-off school feeding programme. Today they provide daily life changing meals to over 890,000 hungry children… and the meals only worked out at a few pence a week.

10. We have taken part in a project called ‘The Backpack Project’

11. So far we have held a mufti day at our school which people had to bring in items for backpacks to send to a school in Malawi.

12. Year 5 also helped to pack the bags!

13. The local Rotary clubs have helped us by getting some actual backpacks to put all the things in!

16. A man from Carnforth Rotary club came to our assembly and showed all the children how a defibrillator works and why it is so important to have one in a local community to help if someone has a heart attack.

17. We are raising money to buy a local defibrillator for our village.

18. On the 25 th of June we our holding an afternoon tea at our school this will hopefully help us start up our fund.. On Wednesday 2 nd July the school choir and band are performing in a concert also to raise funds. A grandparent has said that when the events have taken place he will provide the additional funds needed to buy the equipment.
