Hedgehogs’ class assembly 6 th March 9am.  Lunchtime takes place in the dinner hall at St Luke’s and outside in the adventure playground. Please stay behind at end if you have not let school know about hot meal / pack lunch to let us know.  Uniform – please adhere to the HFS uniform list. If inappropriate uniform is worn, we will give one verbal reminder and if not corrected letters will be sent home. No jewellery except a small religious symbol may be worn, this is for health and safety reasons as the children are very active and outdoors a lot of the time.  Attendance – this is important for the class as a whole to bond and also for your children socially and academically, and also for Ofsted judgments.  After school clubs – all booked through Kathryn and information on website. Pick up will be outside the office and club leaders will bring children to you and ask you to sign them out

8 Home is Part of the Child  Parent communication –the purpose of the communication book is to share short messages or to request a meeting to discuss a matter in more detail. The rationale being that we want to encourage more face to face discussions as our primary means of communication rather than long notes and email conversations. All email correspondence to the office and it will be forwarded.  Home is part of the Child - home school agreement will be shared in the next few weeks.  Volunteering – we welcome parent volunteers, regular (for reading etc.) and ad hoc for topic related sessions. Please contact Kate to get involved as she coordinates and supports volunteers with induction training and a handbook (please note volunteer reading will be in a different class to the one your child is in).  Book bags – please check book bags daily to check for messages in communication book and also in case there is a ‘bumped head’ note.

9 Behaviour  Our Golden Rule is to “Take Care”. We refer to this in all discussions with children on behaviour.  Our ultimate goal with behaviour management is to focus on positive behaviour and encourage children to be intrinsically motived to learn and behave well (you can see HFS Positive Behaviour Policy online).  Behaviour systems in class (these in accordance with HFS Behaviour Policy and Always and Never guidelines). In Reception this usually involves discussions about the behaviour and “thinking time” if the child needs time calm down.

10 Learning Success / Pastoral Care Learning success Emma Louise leading Learning Success (SEN and More able, gifted and talented). The is that support is being given in classroom by teacher, assistant teachers and SEN team. This means that children do not miss out on what goes on in the classroom. There will be exceptions to this if children need to have a quiet 1:1 situation. Pastoral care The well being of children and staff is at the heart of HFS. Our buddy system is being developed into family groups from half term (containing children across the school) with weekly family circle time on Fridays where children reflect and contribute to whole school decision making in mixed aged groups.
