Every reaction causes an equal and opposite reaction(third law), and also an object at rest tends to stay at rest, while an object in motion tends to stay in motion unless acted upon by an external force (inertia) (first law), The acceleration of a body is directly proportional to, and in the same direction as, the net force acting on the body, and inversely proportional to its mass.
