God knew what He was doing when He created women to be mothers Our mothers are certainly special to all of us We too are special to our Mothers! They certainly treasure their children and the time spent with them!

Certainly a mother treasures the childhood of her children Our mothers cherish the memories of our childhood That’s why moms keep pictures, videos, drawings, paintings, art, gifts, and other memories

One such mother who treasured her son’s childhood was Mary, mother of Jesus Luke 2:19, 51 (ESV) Although she was the earthly mother of Jesus, Mary was still no different than any mother

Children are a heritage from the Lord (Ps. 127:3) Think of how much a child meant to women such as Rachel and Hannah While some saw children as a nuisance, Jesus saw them as precious (Matt. 19:13-15)

Notice the Bible describes a woman with children as “joyful” (Ps. 113:9) That may be the opposite of what some of our mothers are at times Perhaps that’s because we as fathers need to be a better help to our mothers

Mothers also treasure the future of their children That’s why mothers are willing to do any and everything to ensure their children have a bright future For an example, look no further than the mother of James and John (Matt. 20:20-28)

All she wanted was to see her two boys succeed “A wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish son is the grief of his mother” (Prov. 10:1) “Let your father and your mother be glad, and let her who bore you rejoice” (Prov. 23:25)

Ephesians 6:2 tells us that to honor our father and mother is the first commandment with promise “…that your days may be long, and that it may be well with you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you” (Deut. 5:16)

Mothers have always given us a good example of training up children The Bible is littered with great examples of this Hannah stands out as one who promised her son to the Lord (I Sam. 1:11)

“The words of King Lemuel, the utterance which his mother taught him” (Prov. 31:1) “when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also” (II Tim. 1:5)

“My son, hear the instruction of your father, and do not forsake the law of your mother” (Prov. 1:8) Titus 2:3-5 – The older women teach the younger women Mothers take very seriously the spiritual upbringing of their children
