French 11. Slow start 22. Ending late 33. Asking "Are There Any Questions?" 44. Unreadable visuals 55. Lack of enthusiasm 66. Lack of preparation Presentation traps

French Slow start break the audience's preoccupation cause them to be present mentally and physically.

French Ending late No one will mind if you finish a few minutes early! Prepare as if you have 10% less time. If you are running long, cut out material that is not absolutely "need to know." Don't wait until the end to cut.

French Asking "Are there any questions?" Tempting: "No, I don't have any questions." "Punishing" people by staying longer for the questions. Use:  "Now let’s have your questions."  "Now its time to ask those questions you have."  "What questions do you have?"

French Questions and answers Anticipate the audience‘s questions Encourage questions during your presentation Always answer questions Listen to the question When necessary, interrupt politely

French Unreadable visuals "I know you can't read this but...." Make visuals visual: color, graphic images, pictures, and charts Test your visuals – in the room where you will speak. Make it easy for your audience to take in your message.

French Lack of enthusiasm If you can't be enthusiastic about your subject, why should your audience be interested in it? Use your voice, stance, and gestures to show excitement about your topic.

French Lack of preparation "Professional suicide" Practice:  opening and closing.  using your visual aids and integrating them smoothly with your words.  moving and gesturing.  varying your voice to add life to your message. You'll get, more, and more with ! Good news for novice trainers: You'll get better, more confident, and more successful with practice!
