1 Greetings!: Warm Up: In your notebook list the important things you think you should talk about in your introduction that say “My research is smart and people should care about it!” HW: MAKESCIENCE A PRIORITY ON TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS (Do it BEFORE MATH and ELA) ALSO – ensure you are working on (and eventually finishing the body of your introduction). This will involve additional research!

4 Important Parts of an Introduction 1.State the topic and main question(s) being investigated 2.Supply background information by discussing past research on the topic *Extensive referencing establishes your project as relevant to current science 3.Explain how your study will add to the past research on the topic 4.Justify the variables you are using and that you are controlling 5.State your initial hypothesis

6 What was the main question? Can people increase their ability to focus simply by eating regularly?

7 HOW DO YOU What is the topic being studied ? People’s ability to focus on task. Is this research specific to your topic?  Early investigations showed that food deprivation was associated with sluggishness and inability to concentrate (Keys, Brozek, etc.)  A food study by the FDA showed amounts of fat, protein and carbohydrates vary between foods (Mende 1970)  A study found showed that fasting for several days produces apathy, irritability and depression (Kollar 1964)
