EXECUTIVE PROPOSAL JULY 2013

Bob Head 56. English Chartered Accountant. CFO four times (currently SARS – previously Nedbank Group, egg.com and Prudential International). CFO roles taught me how to coach the business, get the right decision in the right way and supporting CEO is imperative. CEO roles for twelve years. 2016/06/01PfP Executive Proposal 1

Bob Head The big question How can what I am going to talk about benefit someone like me: Old. Experienced. Worked in more than two dozen countries. How can it benefit you and your business? 2016/06/01PfP Executive Proposal 2

What if? Your people can run a business through INFLUENCE rather than just command and control. 2016/06/01PfP Executive Proposal 3

What if? Your people learn how to LISTEN properly rather than preparing for the next clever thing they are about to say. 2016/06/01PfP Executive Proposal 4

What if? Your people are CHALLENGED in a totally alien environment and can make a real difference. 2016/06/01PfP Executive Proposal 5

What if? Your people get embedded in a DIFFERENT COMMUNITY and understand the people and the needs of that market. 2016/06/01PfP Executive Proposal 6

What if? Your people APPRECIATE what they have and what needs to be done in South Africa. 2016/06/01PfP Executive Proposal 7

What if? Your people can work as a COMMUNITY whilst they are getting these benefits – a circle of schools helped by your managers who share experiences and learning. 2016/06/01PfP Executive Proposal 8

What if? Your business gets the opportunity to tap into YOUNG TALENT ahead of your competitors. 2016/06/01PfP Executive Proposal 9

What if? You make the single biggest CONTRIBUTION possible to South Africa – help fix Education in South Africa. 2016/06/01PfP Executive Proposal 10

You get all of this Personal development. Commercial benefits. It counts for BEE. It is cheap and tuneable (R60,000 per person). It is FUN and fulfilling. 2016/06/01PfP Executive Proposal 11

How? PfP pairs business managers with school principals to support the most important instrument of change in education – the principal. The business partner is the principal’s buddy. Not coach, mentor or buddy – partnership of equals. We get 5 days training each – stakeholder management, time to think, community building. It takes me about half a day a fortnight – best half day you spend. 2016/06/01PfP Executive Proposal 12

What the principal says Confidence. Help with the management team. Help with the educators. Help with the learners. Involving the community. Fund raising. Books, books, books. UK partnership with a school. A real friend. 2016/06/01PfP Executive Proposal 14

What the principal says The big things: Not a threat to me. I have learned from Bob and PfP. He only helps. He brings people to the school. We spend about half a day a fortnight doing “stuff”. And he does a lot of listening. 2016/06/01PfP Executive Proposal 15

Participants view? 2016/06/01PfP Executive Proposal 16 Independently of PfP I have asked principals and business partners what they thought about the programme. I asked: On a rating 1 (awful) and 10 (brilliant) how did people rate the programme? What were the three big things people got from the programme. Principals rated the programme the most highly – 8/10 or better. 84% of business partners rated the programme as 8/10 or better. Or put another way a net promoter score of infinity (the ratio of 9 and 10 ratings compared to the 1 to 6). An outstanding result. 20 Bob Head view My listening is so much better. I am humbled by the people who work in my school. I have no power – only influence. I understand this community more. I can make a difference. It has been amazing – fun and fulfilling. These are the things that make me a success at work and could do the same for you and for your business. 2016/06/01PfP Executive Proposal 19

Closing thoughts I am too busy. Nonsense – there are 168 hours in the week and this is clearly not important to you to do. You have made the choice – welcome to the revolution you failed to stop. 2016/06/01PfP Executive Proposal 20

Closing thoughts Get out of the stands and get on the pitch. Good for you. Good for your people. Good for your business. Good for South Africa. 2016/06/01PfP Executive Proposal 21

Thank you 2016/06/01PfP Executive Proposal 22
