By: Nick Clor, Mosab Baarma and Bilal Hussein The branch of engineering that deals with the design and analysis of logistical and resource systems.

 Manufacturing engineering  Component engineering  Systems engineering  Construction engineering  Textile engineering  Safety engineering  Reliability engineering

 Manufacturing engineering is one of many disciplines of industrial engineering that deals with different Manufacturing practices and the research and development of systems.  Manufacturing engineers are responsible for the design and development of products, they create and develop things such as; physical artifacts, production processes, and technology.  expected to grow by( 2% between 2006- 2016).

 Deals with the design and construction and maintenance of smaller components for larger machines.  Component engineers are responsible for designing the pieces of larger engineering projects.  employment is expected to grow by( 6% between 2010 - 2020).

 The field of engineering that deals with and focuses on complex systems and how they should be designed and managed over their life cycle.  employment is expected to grow by(13% between 2008-2018).

 deals with the designing, planning, construction and management of infrastructures such as highways, bridges and railroads.  Construction engineering employment is expected to grow by ( 19.4% between 2008- 2018)

 The discipline of engineering that deals with preventing accidents and lessening opportunities for human error in engineered environments or in engineering design.  Safety engineering employment is expected to grow by (13% between 2010-2020).

 Industrial engineers starting out do many jobs, these include: applying mathematics, coordinating quality control and drafting and designing layout of equipment.

 Applying mathematics is a very important part of the process because answers to complex problems cannot be estimated.  Quality Control is extremely important because it guarantees that he product of the manufacturer are precise, saving the company money.  Floor layout is also important because the less steps a part needs to go through the cheaper the end product will be.

 Job opportunities for industrial engineers seem to be endless because any company that wants to save money knows they need find ways to speed up processes, and to use less material, and industrial engineers are the answer to these problems. Industrial Engineers are nicknamed lean engineers because they save producers money.

 Practical applications of engineering and science.  Production process to understand how parts can be made, and if parts are even possible.  Mathematics.  Mechanical understanding

 There are many opportunities that open up for senior level industrial engineers. As companies look for new ways to reduce costs and increase productivity, they will continue to turn to industrial engineers to develop more effective processes and reduce waste. The increased focus on productivity leads to much job growth for industrial engineers even in industries with declining employment. Because the work done by industrial engineers is so similar to management, many find themselves being promoted to management positions. Some may even obtain a board position.

 Wayne State will prepare you greatly for industrial engineering. The program has been in place since the 1940s. Wayne State has developed strong programs in industrial engineering focus areas that include management, health care, and manufacturing systems. The research funding per professor is among the highest in the university. Many graduates of the program find themselves employed in companies such as BMW, Boeing, and Blue Cross Blue Shield among others. It also became the first US school to offer an industrial engineering doctorate program for working executives.

 Use of Computer driven robotics on assembly plants greatly effect the role of an industrial engineer, because they need to be able to draw floor plans to accommodate for these robots, while making the process more efficient.  The constant need for quality to get better and better also effects Industrial engineers because it is there job to draw systems that repeat time and time again.
