2 2 New York Blood Center (NYBC) New York Blood Center (NYBC) is a non-profit organization that supports approximately 200 area hospitals, providing needed blood and blood components for the 18 million people in the New York/ New Jersey metropolitan area. NYBC is also a world leader in hematology, clinical services and transfusion science, conducting both basic and applied research in these important fields. Because of this leadership position, NYBC not only develops and distributes innovative blood products and services; it also provides comprehensive training, public education and medical services for both health care professionals and the community.
