5 A key target group for NLI’s preventive activity are young people who enter the labour market and are exposed to abuses by unfair employers. YOUNG WORKERS – EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMME For three years now the Labour Inspectorate and the Central Institute for Labour Protection have implemented an educational programme for students from post-gymnasium schools titled “Safety culture”.

6 Development and printing of materials for teachers and an information booklet for students Teachers enrol for the programme in District Labour Inspectorates Training for teachers in DLI, distribution of materials During lessons teachers convey knowledge of labour law and OSH Lesson with the participation of a labour inspector YOUNG WORKERS – EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMME

7 317 317 schools joined the programme, 44 thousand Over 44 thousand students were trained 721 721 teachers received diplomas confirming their participation in the programme. Programme carried out jointly with the Central Institute for Labour Protection- National Research Institute As results from the questionnaires: 93% of teachers would join the programme again or recommend it to other teachers YOUNG WORKERS – EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMME

8 3-year campaign included in the national osh strategy 2008-2012 Drawing attention to a problem – 10% of fatal accidents happen during work at heights in construction Promotion of collective protective measures for work at heights Promotion of good practices and the latest technological solutions „SAFE WORK IN CONSTRUCTION” CAMPAIGN

10 Statistical analysis after broadcasting Effectiveness of the TV campaign was calculated on the basis of data from AGB Nielsen Media Research – a company dealing with telemetrics. Their monitoring covers almost 180 TV stations, including TV programmes and commercials in 39 Polish TV stations, which gives data on TV viewing trends in Poland. The campaign reached 45.07% of the target group (manual workers aged between 20 and 45 from cities with more than 20,000 inhabitants). The number of contacts in the target group was 3.08 which means that 45.07% of persons in the target group saw the TV message three times.
