A big government approach to the environment will only limit freedom and prosperity. Oil, coal, natural gas, nuclear power, and various other alternative energy sources should not be prohibited, over regulated, or subsidized by the government. Instead all forms of energy should be allowed to compete in the free-market. By increasing private property rights, libertarians would ensure a cleaner environment than we have now. Federal agencies like the EPA should be abolished. The free market offers quicker, more effective ways to clean the environment and more efficient and effective technologies. They are more liberal in this world because they do not want excessive government regulation and they believe there should be a free market in energy.
