Queen Elizabeth’s friend Sir Walter Raleigh advised her to send people to the New World to increase England’s power.
North America had more land and natural resources, ie; fish, animal fur,and timber.

He left Roanoke to get more supplies for the colonists from England.
While in England the war between Spanish Armada and the English Navy kept him from returning.
