1 Persuasive Writing = Turkey Sandwich

2 Parts of a Persuasive Essay
There are ten components of a persuasive essay: 1: Must be a minimum of 5 paragraphs. 2: Each paragraph should be seven to ten sentences. 3: An interesting opening that contains a HOOK. Grab your readers attention. 4: Thesis Statement: explains what your essay will be about and lists your three reasons.

5: Stick to one side 6: Use transitions between paragraphs to introduce a new idea. 7: Must include facts and statistics 8: Use supporting examples or expert opinions 9: Avoid saying “I” or “I Think” 10: Conclusion- restates the thesis and gives the call to action.

4 Building an essay is similar to building a sandwich
First, you need a thesis this is represented as the top layer of your bread. Next, you need your first reason, this should be the least important reason because you are discussing it first, this is represented as the cheese. After, you need your next reason, this is represented as the ham.

5 Continuing to build our sandwich…
Furthermore, your last reason which should be the most important is the turkey. Lastly, you need to finish up your sandwich with another slice of bread and that is when you restate the thesis and have a call to action which is the mayonnaise.
