2. Creatures In this presentation you will learn about creatures or monsters in Greek Mythology. Some of those creatures are Medusa, Furies, Minotaur, Cerberus, Scylla, and more! Also, you will learn about SOME gods!

3. Medusa Medusa was a type of Greek monster called a "Gorgon". She has a women's face, but snakes in her hair! Anyone that looked in her eyes would turn to stone! Fun fact, Medusa used to be a beautiful woman, but was turned into a Gorgon as a punishment by the goddess Athena!

4. Pegasus Pegasus was a beautiful white horse that could fly! Pegasus was the horse of Zeus and the offspring of the ugly monster Medusa. Pegasus helped the hero Bellerophon to kill the chimera.

5. Griffins ~The Griffin was a combination of a lion and an eagle. It had a body of a lion and the head, wings and talons of an eagle! Griffins were said to live in northern Greece where they guarded a huge treasure.

6. Minotaur The Minotaur had the head of a bull and the body of a man! The Minotaur came from an island of Crete. He lived underground in maze called the Labyrinth. Each year seven boys and seven girls were locked into the Labyrinth to be eaten by the Minotaur!

7. Scylla Scylla was a terrible sea monster with twelve long tentacle legs and 6 dog like heads! She guarded one side of the Strait of Messina while her counterpart Charbdis guarded the other side.

8. Charybdis Charybdis was a sea monster that took a shape of a giant whirlpool. Any ships that came near the Charybdis were pulled down to the bottom of the sea! Ships that passed through the straight of Messina had to either pass by Charybdis or face the sea monster Scylla.

9. The Strait of Messina The Strait of Messina Is the narrow passage between the eastern tip of Sicily and the western tip of Calabria in the south of Italy. It connects the Tyrrhenian Sea to the Ionian Sea to the south, within the central Mediterranean! Fun fact At the Strait of Messina's narrowest point it measures 3. 1 km (1.9 miles)!

10. Hercules Each of the twelve Labors of Hercules is a story and adventure all to itself. The king did not like Hercules and wanted him to fail. Each time he made the tasks more and more difficult! The final task even involved traveling to the Underworld and bringing back the three-headed guardian Cerberus.

11. Hydra The Hydra was a fearsome monster in Greek Mythology. It was a giant snake With 9 heads! The problem was that if you cut one head of, more heads would quickly grow back. Hercules slew the hydra as one of his twelve labors.

12. Cerberus The Cerberus was a giant three headed dog that guarded the gates f the underworld! Cerberus was the offspring of the feared monster Typhon. Hercules had to capture Cerberus as one of his Twelve Labors!

26. Cyclopes The Cyclopes were one-eyed giants. They were famous for Making Zeus his Thunderbolts and Poseidon his trident.

27. Zeus Zeus was the king of all the gods. He could shape shift and make himself look like or talk like anybody he wanted to!

28. Zeus He also had powers that came from being King of all the gods. These were powers of the government. He could give other gods titles and jobs, and he could take them away

29. Zeus He was an elected position. There were 12 gods on the council, they could of voted someone else as King but they never did. And Zeus never retired!

30. Zeus As the king of all gods, there are many myths about the mighty Zeus.

31. Chimera The Chimera was a giant monster that was a combination of many animals including a goat, lion, and snake. It was the offspring of Typhon!

32. Typhon Typhon was perhaps the scariest and most powerful of all the monsters in Greek Mythology. He was called "Father of all monsters" and even the gods were scared of him! Only Zeus could defeat him, he had the monster imprisoned underneath Mount Etna!
